DJ Babu of the World Famous Beat Junkies has always had an ear for music production. With his dope Duck Season mixes and the success of The Beat Tape Vol. 1, I’ve been anticipating a follow up instrumental effort. Set to release The Beat Tape Vol. 2 in February 2010, I’m sure Babu will not disappoint. Fellow beat junkies should keep a lookout for the upcoming release. Here’s a sneak peak of one of the tracks from The Beat Tape Vol. 2 entitled “Lil Juanito”:

‘The “F@#k the Economy” collection is Yours Truly’s crooked and controversial approach in retaliation to the economic crisis that we are living through. The checkered craigslist pattern was created using real New York City craigslist ads. These comical yet scandalous craigslist listings are seen throughout the collection, which includes a reversible funnel neck, reversible zippered mini, leggings with ankle zippers, long sleeve raglan with striped pattern accent, and a dress with asymmetrical shoulders and adjustable length side drawstrings. The graphic and photo tees are also inspired by the depressed economy and include statements like “Ain’t nothing going on but the rent,” “Fucking Economy,” and “New York City – Where else could I get away with this shit.” The lookbook takes you inside the life of a modern day New York fashionista, who with no food and no money to pay the rent, still manages to look fierce and live a fabulous life.’ -Yours Truly
‘It’s finally here folks. After a few months of teasers which left many scratching their heads, trying to figure out what this was – well here it is. Fitted’s first ever shoe, which we’ve properly titled Kaholo, which means to move fast or progress rapidly which pretty much defines this shoe. In collaboration with Element Skateboards, we designed this shoe from the ground up. Literally. This specific model is Element’s team pro rider Darrell Stanton’s; his second model to be precise. The way this project came about? There’s a deep rooted history between Fitted and Element.
The details of the shoe are as follows: Sublimated nylon canvas print which features vintage Hawaiian pin up girls from way back when, a relic of our past – here to stay in the future. The tongue features a perfect Fitted crest hit, bottom sees a white vulcanized sole and embossed leather heel with a subtle trilock pattern, plus we took extra care in the design of the box, which features a nice, black print of trilocks in different contrasted shades of black, with a yellow carrier that slides in and out for easy storage and a metal hole for proper ventilation. Each shoe comes with 3 different pairs of laces: yellow trilock laces, black laces and white laces, each bearing Fitted tips. These are limited to a supply of 60, so please act quickly!’ – Fitted Hawaii

America began a fascination with superheros on the big screen in 1978, when a red and blue wearing Superman flew across screens all over the United States. Christopher Reeve stars as the alien turned super citizen who lives under the alias of Clark Kent, mild mannered reporter. Reeve is powerful as superman – he combines the strength of muscle and character with gentleness and intelligence. Don’t expect to see much of his alter ego, Clark Kent, though.

Margot Kidder plays Lois Lane, the reporter who can’t spell. Although she isn’t as drop dead gorgeous as other, more recent Lois Lanes who have graced the silver screen and the boob tube, she nails the shock and giddiness that embody her character in her first outing with the man of steel.
For 1978, some of the special effects are pretty darn good, especially in the first half of the film. The scenes on Krypton, including the giant dome that covers the center of the city, and the glowing white and red accents are fantastic to watch. However, the obvious use of models during the earthquake in California (it’s always California!) provoked a chuckle from this movie watcher.
If you’re in the mood for a movie that features tights, pop this one in and enjoy a classic that movie lovers will probably be watching for many Fridays to come.
Despite their vast rise to fame, four successful releases, and continuous shit-talking from lead Brandon Flowers, The Killers still remain fan boys at heart. Having covered songs from Joy Division to Bright Eyes, the band fears not to pay tribute to their favorite songs. Their latest project is a bold spin to 70’s legendary rock band The Eagles‘ Hotel California. Solely recreated and recorded for non-profit organization Artists Project Earth (APE), The Killers completely flipped the melancholy tone and exaggerated on the tiny hint of sexiness and dance. The added variety of drums and bass are reminiscent of a Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros‘ Mondo Bongo, and the incorporated trumpets give way to a festive, lively atmosphere.
As a huge fan of The Eagles and an even greater fan of the genius-made Hotel California, I have yet to decide if The Killer’s have done it justice. Listen to the song here, and judge for yourself.

Nike has just released the 3rd colorway of the Patta Air Max One line-up. This one comes in a navy/purple colorway topped with the green swoosh. The denim is also brought into the design just like the other colorways. These kicks are out, so go pick them up at your local boutique or Proper in Long Beach, CA.
