I’ve been in search of a new pair of shades to rock. I ran into Shwood’s Canby, which are made of 100% wood and stainless steel hinges. I’ve noticed lately that this style of frame is popular in a lot of urban brands adding optical to their lines. The wood frame gives it that unique touch and also the fact that the temple width is 140 mm wide. Normally frames of this style are a lot more narrow, but big ups to Shwood for thinking of us big brained people. The Canby can be picked up online now at Commonwealth. Keep it fresh.
All you Star Wars geeks out there can finally get some kicks that will match that jedi outfit. Leaders, located in downtown Chicago, has released their Adidas “Star Wars” Pack featuring styles inspired by Skywalker and Yoda. First off the action figure type packaging is just creative. The Yoda uses the familar green and brown colors of the actual character in a cool boat shoe. If he was reincarnated into a shoe, it would definitely look like this. I’m digging the detail with the hemp which represents his suit. The Skywalker is just sick. The colors are inspired by Luke’s suit with orange being the dominant color. The stripes in white and the black laces are the simple, but dope accents that complete the design. Check out the Leaders site for more info. Keep it fresh.
With all these rainy days ahead what could we possibly look forward to? Supra footwear’s 2010 collection of kicks is definitely something to keep an eye on. With suede being a primary fabric, this new set of hi’s and lows will satisfy any shoe lover. I’m especially digging Jim Greco’s signature model, the Thunder Hi’s (pic above), in five new colorways. A pair of these with some dope raw denim would look dope. I’m also feeling the Skylow 1.5 in that sick red/black tie dye colorway. Check out some of the other models releasing in the next couple of months at authorized Supra dealers. Keep it fresh.
DJ AM rest in peace. Hands down one of the best DJs to ever touch the turntables. His mixes are an excellent balance of cuts, blends, new hits, classic re-interpretations, and just good music that lots of people really enjoyed dancing and partying too. I was able to catch him live in LA a couple of years ago and dude tore up a Hollywood crowd like it was no one’s business. The energy and stage presence he had was special. Almost as noteworthy as his illustrious DJ career, is the man’s shoe collection, which was DEEP, DEEP, DEEPER THAN ATLANTIS. This Dunk High Premium does DJ AM justice with its black patent leather and supple red leather upper. The dot pattern on the heel represents the side of the Technic 1200 turntable platter, and the DJ AM logo on the tongue tag. This is a really special shoe and tribute to AM. Peace and blessings to his fam and may his legacy live on through this catalog of mixes.

What more can I say that hasn’t been already said about DJ Premier? On the real. “P-p-p-p-p-p-premier. Premier. Premier. Premier.” from the mixtapes to forming one of the most historic East Coast/NY hip-hop groups with Guru: GANGSTARR-to just being a purveyor of the that true hip-hop boom-bap and the culture. His beats, his voice, his contributions to the music…legendary. He’s the reason why lots of DJs, myself included, started DJing, and I STILL CANNOT CUT LIKE PRIMO, fam! Nike’s first half of the “DJ Pack” is this “DJ Premier” Air Force 1 Premium, which has his “Year Round” record label logo laser etched on the side, “DJ PREMIER” boldly laser etched across the back heels of both left and right shoes, “PREMIER” on the metal lace lock, all black everything upper, and a jelly outsole with at turntable pattern graphic underneath.
