One of my recent memories as a child in Hawaii was despising the New York Mets for the simple fact that they were my brother’s favorite team. However, as ‘local boy’ Sid Fernandez took the mound for the loathing Mets, I found myself rooting for them, for him. I guess that’s the unique thing about being from Hawaii–one tends to root for ‘locals’ on the big stage regardless of the team they religiously follow.
To commemorate El Sid’s illustrious career in the Major Leagues, Fitted Hawaii has designed a Kamehameha fitted in the Mets’ colorway with white pinstripes and a green under bill. Also, Fitted designed a shirt that illustrates El Sid’s signature pitching stance with his number on the back. There’s probably a line forming as I post these as these are limited in numbers and set to release tomorrow, July 25.
